What's In A Name?
Foxwood was named after the county in Ohio where my maternal great grandparents' farm is situated. In the late 1800's, Foxwood County became Henry County. The original land deed still lists the fa.,/prm in Foxwood. While the farm has never been a true horse farm, it does still hold a rich history made possible with the help of many, many horses.
A Brief History...
I began playing Sim horse games in 1999. The first game that caught my eye was the legendary old school game, HOCK. This is where I was bit by the Sim bug and I've never looked back. I made some amazing, long lasting friendships. HOCK is also where I acquired Zipped Dynamically from Mel at DEQH.
After HOCK closed, I briefly joined Hay!Land. I was not there very long, but long enough to acquire Desperado, Cairo, Backdraft and Decadent Girl (later sold to DEQH).
I then joined ARENA, where a few people I knew from HOCK were playing. There soon was a falling out between the admin, and one group went a different route to begin their own game.
Beth and Susan created an amazing game called Caballus and recruited several old HOCK players. I was finally able to open my very first main barn, Mountain Meadow Arabians. I also owned my first associations, Caballus Arabian Registry and Caballus Paint Horse Association. Roughly after a year, Caballus was closed.
Knowing I'd miss the camaraderie and family atmosphere that was very present in Caballus, I contemplated beginning another game. I contacted Danya and Mel, asking if they would like to start our own game. It took us a few months to work everything out, but in the end we created Riata. With help from Beth and Megan, we began Riata, basing it off our love of the old-school, non-automatic game.
I have been in Riata ever since. I have always owned Foxwood Farm in Riata. FF has always been a breeding barn, and I have recently opened the door to boarders again. I have also owned many associations within the game. Riata Arabian Registry, Riata Paint Horse Association, Riata Western Horse Association (owned by Megan & Danya), Riata Hunter Association (owned by Beth), Riata Young Horse Association (owned by Mikayla), Riata Reining Association (owned by Rachel), Riata Quarter Horse Association(previously owned by Mel) and Riata Breeding Incentive.
A Look To The Future...
FF has just finished a year long face lift. Along with that, I am changing my breeding plans. I have always bred Arabians, that have, in fact, always been my main focus. I will slowly be selling off most of my Arabian stock, only keeping a few sentimentals. I'm sure I'll breed one or two a year, but not much. I'll now be focusing on the stock breeds, Quarter Horse, Paint, Appaloosa, as well as Thoroughbred, and German Warmbloods, Hanoverian, Holsteiner, Oldenburg, Trakhner.
I'm starting a small racing string as well as a small Halter string, 99% being stock breeds. I'll be sticking with almost all jumpers with the Warmbloods, except for Routine and one or two more dressage horses. Thoroughbreds will be strictly racers, Hunters and Jumpers. As has always been my love, most of my stock breeds will continue to be Western Horses (Western Show, Cow horses and Speed)
